After shopping at
Trader Joe's in Santa Monica this afternoon, I noticed that right next door there's a new face on the block. Pico Blvd finally has what it's been missing: an all vegan/vegetarian organic pressed juice bar and cafe. I noticed the sign "Rejuice" and knew that this place must be right up my alley.
I popped my head in to see what they are all about and had the pleasure of chatting briefly with Ron, who is one of the owners. He told me a little about how they built the spot from the ground up (it used to be a children's clothing store), so it took a year to get everything going. I'm determined to help this little neighborhood juicery stick around!

Heirloom Tomato Salad $7.00 |
The first thing I noticed about Rejuice, was the little seating area outside, which you think would feel strange since it's technically in the middle of a parking lot, but is instead cozy and inviting. The doors are wide open, welcoming you to what you can tell will be a healthy, and delicious treat. The air inside smells of fresh vegetables and the menu board is shiny - it's a mirror after all! - and attractive. The menu is basic, from the pressed juices and smoothies, to the handful of salads and sandwiches, but my mouth was watering just reading. And then I turned to my left. On the counter was a display of the food options; the sandwiches and salads looked even better than they sounded! The part that makes good even greater: the menu very is inexpensive for what they are serving, especially when compared to other similar juice bars.

Pico Blvd on the east end of Santa Monica has been a growing hotspot
for food, with high end places like
Valentino and
Josie, authentic
traditional Mexican fare at
Lares, New York style dining and drinks at
Upper West, but nothing catering to the more health conscious and vegan crowd. ReJuice
is a welcome addition to neighborhood.
