I think it's fairly safe to say that it is common knowledge that greens are good for you and that everyone can benefit from eating more of them. Sometimes the idea of eating an abundance of greens can be a little intimidating to people, especially those who are new to a healthy diet, or easing into a life of no processed foods.
So what is the best way get more greens into your diet?
The simple answer is smoothies!
Smoothies are a great way to pack a whole lot of veggies into one powerful super food punch. It's easier to consume more greens in one sitting when you blend them up. Plus, since there's no chewing required, you can eat them quicker too! :)
Leafy greens are especially great to provide you with important vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that you need to feel your best, increase your energy, benefit your cardiovascular system, and so much more! When you blend your greens, fruits and veggies into a smoothie, you still get the fiber you need to feel full, control your blood sugar, lower cholesterol and lose or maintain weight.
Although there is a little hint of sweetness in this Very Green Smoothie, you could almost consider it more of a savory smoothie. I find it particular beneficial for boosting my energy on days that I'm dragging, and warding off any oncoming colds; it is, after all, packed with vitamin C!
